10 Minute Chex Mix
How do you eat Chex Mix?
In our family, the rye crackers would always be the first to go, and eventually, we would end up with a bag with only the dreaded circle pretzels and little cracker sticks with no one to eat them.
Years ago I started making homemade Chex Mix and discovered--a-ha!--you can make Chex Mix...in the microwave. I know, it sounds weird and wrong, but I promise it works!
The best part of making homemade Chex Mix? We have landed on using 100% Rice Chex (since I am gluten-free) and no add-ins. I guess it really isn’t a mix, but it’s probably the boys’ favorite snack I make and it is super easy!
10 Minute Chex Mix
10-12 cups of your preferred combo of Chex, small pretzels and/or rye chips
6 tablespoons butter or non-dairy substitute
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon paprika
Place butter in a microwave-safe bowl, cover, and microwave 45 seconds at a time until melted.
Add the Worcestershire sauce, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well to combine.
Pour the Chex and pretzels/chips if using in a large microwave-safe bowl. Pour butter mixture over and mix well.
Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir well. Microwave another 2 minutes. Stir again. Let cool.
That’s it! Super easy!
