Southern Green Beans
1 ham hock
1-2 pounds of fresh or frozen green beans
1 onion, chopped
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Water
Salt and pepper to taste
Vinegar
Place the ham hock in a slow cooker. Add the green beans, onion, and garlic powder, then cover the beans with water.
Cover and cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours, LOW for 6-8.
Remove the ham hock and set it on a platter. Let cool.
Pull some of the pork off the ham hock and chop well. Add to the green beans. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.
Serve and drizzle with a bit of vinegar if desired.
